Loving Me, Loving You

Updated: Jun 12

The Heart of Our Multiples Community

March 9th–15th marks Multiples Awareness Week, a time to celebrate the joy, connection, and challenges of raising twins, triplets, and more. This year’s theme, “Loving Me, Loving You,” is all about relationships - the bonds we share with our children, our partners, and our wider support networks.

As parents of multiples, we know how much love and energy goes into raising our little ones. The early years can feel like a whirlwind of sleepless nights, endless nappies, and juggling more than seems humanly possible! But it’s also filled with those heart-melting moments - the way our babies reach for each other, the unspoken twin or triplet language, the team spirit that forms between siblings from day one.

At Multiples Hutt Valley, we understand this journey because we’re walking it too. Our charity is run entirely by volunteers - parents of multiples just like you, giving back to make sure families in our community have the support, friendship, and resources they need.

Why volunteers are the heart of our village

We know life is busy. As parents of multiples, time is our most precious (and often scarcest!) resource. But without volunteers, there is no Multiples Hutt Valley. Every email, event, or piece of support we provide exists because someone took a moment to give back.

The reality is, without more hands on deck, the services that support so many families can’t continue. We need your help - and the good news is, even the smallest contribution makes a big difference!

Ways you can give back: Big or small

Volunteering doesn’t have to mean taking on a huge commitment. There are so many ways you can help, no matter how busy life is:

  • Microvolunteering – Write a blog (like this one!), snap some photos at an event, or help with social media

  • Host a MHV playdate – Organise a casual meet-up for families with same-age multiples

  • Event support – Help set up a party, lend a hand at an event, or tidy up after everyone's headed home

  • Join the team – Become a general volunteer or take on a role that fits your schedule

  • Organise a fundraiser - Coordinate and run an initiative to raise funds for Multiples Hutt Valley

To find out more about these volunteer opportunities, please email info@multipleshv.org. Every hour you can spare, every small act of kindness, helps to keep our community running. By giving back, you’re not just supporting the families of today, you’re ensuring that future parents of multiples have the same welcoming community that you did.

Together, we make this possible

Multiples Awareness Week is about relationships, and one of the most powerful relationships we can build is within our community of parents who truly get it. Loving our children also means looking after ourselves, and a strong, supportive village makes all the difference.

So if you’ve ever thought about getting involved, now is the perfect time. Your help, big or small, will keep Multiples Hutt Valley alive for years to come.

Interested? We’d love to hear from you! Get in touch or chat with a volunteer at our next event.
